About Us

Our Children’s Hospital is a premier destination for pediatric care, research, and education. Consistently ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, we are known for delivering cutting-edge treatments, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, and leading groundbreaking research that transforms the future of pediatric medicine.

With 183 beds and more than 150 specialists across 40+ medical disciplines, our hospital provides world-class care to patients from across the country. We are committed to fostering an environment where healthcare professionals can thrive, learn, and grow while providing life-saving care to some of the most vulnerable patients.

About the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

The 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is designed to provide the highest level of care for critically ill infants and children who require continuous monitoring and advanced medical interventions. We treat patients with a wide range of complex conditions, including:

  • Severe respiratory failure
  • Neurological emergencies
  • Post-surgical recovery from major procedures
  • Multi-system organ failure
  • Trauma and critical illness requiring specialized intensive care

More than 1,000 critically ill children are admitted to our PICU annually, many of whom arrive by ambulance, helicopter, or airplane from across the western United States. Our multidisciplinary team works together to provide cutting-edge therapies, including ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), advanced mechanical ventilation, and specialized post-surgical care.

About the Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP)

The 16-bed Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is dedicated to caring for medically complex pediatric patients who require specialized care before transitioning home or to another care setting. The TCUP provides moderate- to high-acuity care, including:

  • Recovery from solid organ transplantation
  • Management of non-invasive mechanical ventilation (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula)
  • Titration of anticoagulant therapy
  • Post-operative care for specialized pediatric surgeries, including ENT and neurosurgical procedures

The TCUP serves as a bridge between intensive care and home-based care, ensuring patients and their families receive comprehensive education and support before discharge.
